Every person who registers for a full pass at Montreal Dance Fest will be able to take classes in all genres of dance. In order to ensure that every student is learning as much as possible, we track our classes. This means that in the classes dancers will be dancing and learning with other students that have relatively the same experience and ability. Montreal Dance Fest does this because we believe (and have seen from experience) that students ultimately end up learning and progressing more when they are in a classroom with their peers.
Montreal Dance Fest monitors these levels through the use of wristbands and wristband checkers. Only students with the proper wristband will be allowed into the classroom of that level. Students will be given wristbands when they arrive at registration. If students wish to change level, there will be a Level Test for each genre of dance to determine which level each student belongs in. Please see the Schedule to know when your Level Test is. If you wish to take classes in multiple styles of dance, you will need to Level Test for each style of dance you wish to take classes in.
Level Test information coming soon.
As of now, there will be 4 tracks of WCS Classes (Track 1-4), with Track 4 being the All-Star classes. This number may increase depending upon the number of class taking registrations we receive. Tracks 1-3 will have 8 hours of class each, and Track 4 will have 4 hours of class. Each student is welcome to take any class in any level underneath their current level. For example, Level 3 students are free to take the Level 1 and/or 2 classes if they wish, but Level 1 students may only take classes in that level. Breakdown of the tracks will be announced at a later date. Upon arrival at the event each attendee will need to provide the registration desk with their
WSDC number.
Ultimately if the teachers feel that any student would be better suited in a different track (up or down) once the classes have started, each teacher has the right to change the student’s level. If they do so, it is because they feel like that would be a better situation for the individual student and the other students around them. They are professionals, and Montreal Dance Fest trusts their opinion.
